    DESCRIPTION

    The 1971-S Eisenhower Silver Dollar is part of the series minted from 1971 to 1978, featuring a 40% silver and 60% copper composition. Produced in San Francisco as a Business (MS) strike, this coin, often called a "blue Ike" due to its original blue envelope packaging, had a mintage of 6,868,530.

    The obverse displays a detailed left-facing portrait of President Dwight D. Eisenhower with the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date. The reverse depicts an eagle landing on the moon, clutching olive branches, with Earth in the background, surrounded by 13 stars and the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR.
